Scatena & Rosner Films has acquired worldwide rights to Uncommon Productions’ coming-of-age feature film “What We Find on the Road.” The summertime tale of self-discovery and the ties that bind us will release exclusively in U.S. theaters on Sept. 20.

Written by Bill Haney and directed by Chaysen Beacham, “What We Find on the Road” stars Finn Haney (“William”), William Chris Sumpter (“Goosebumps”), Katherine Laheen (“WeCrashed”), Paul Guilfoyle (“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”), and Ross Partridge (“Daisy Jones & the Six”).

“We are excited to partner with Scatena & Rosner,” said writer-producer Haney. “The care they take in shepherding poignant stories to audiences around the world persuaded us that they were the right firm for ‘What We Find on the Road.'” In “What We Find on the Road,” TJ receives a key from his estranged ex-con father on his 18th birthday. The key unlocks a timeworn ’68 convertible and a challenge to drive across America in hopes of repairing his family. Supported by a band of loveable oddballs and held together by humor and grit, TJ discovers that sometimes the longest road is the fastest way to home. “There’s so much heart and soul in this film that it immediately stood out to us, so we’re both proud and excited to start its roll out by bringing it to theaters nationwide this September,” said S&R Films managing director Gato Scatena. The film has screened at 23 film festivals around the world, winning several awards including best lead actor at the Pasadena International Film Festival, a Gold Remi award at World-Fest Houston International Film Festival, and best dramatic feature film at the Independent Filmmakers Showcase. S&R is a global film finance, sales, and distribution company whose other recent acquisitions include the upcoming “It’s Okay – Go Back to Sleep” starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, “The Christmas Letter” starring Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid and the Lou Ferrigno-starrer “The Hermit.”

The deal was negotiated by Gato Scatena on behalf of S&R Films, and Chaysen Beacham and Bill Haney on behalf of the filmmakers.
