The narrative centers on TJ (Haney), who, on his 18th birthday, receives a key from his estranged ex-con father. This key unlocks a classic 1968 convertible, launching TJ on a cross-country journey to reconnect with his family. Joined by a motley crew of quirky companions, including Jake (Sumpter) as TJ discovers that humor and resilience are essential as he learns that the longest road can ultimately lead him back home.
‘What We Find on the Road,’ has already garnered attention, screening at 23 film festivals worldwide and earning several prestigious awards, including Best Lead Actor at the Pasadena International Film Festival and Best Dramatic Feature at the Independent Filmmakers Showcase.
Written by Finn Haney’s father Bill Haney and directed by Chaysen Beacham, ‘What We Find on the Road,’ delivered a wonderful message of growth, self-discovering and making peace with one’s past while looking to the future.
William Chris Sumpter is recognized for his roles in ‘Goosebumps‘ and ‘The Midnight Club.’ He began his acting career at just 11 years old in the Broadway production of ‘Matilda.’ After extensive training in theater, Sumpter transitioned to film and television, earning acclaim for his performances in the musical ‘Runaways‘ and short films like ‘Brooklyn Love Stories.’
Finn Haney, a graduate of The California Institute of the Arts and the Terry Knickerbocker Studio in New York, also stars in “What We Find on the Road” alongside Paul Guilfoyle. He has appeared in films such as ‘William‘ and ‘Where the Devil Roams.’
